Encyclopaedia of Sweets - Beginning with H

Our next stop in the world of sweets Encyclopaedia is the letter H! We've listed below a range of sweets beginning with the letter H - and there are quite a few to mention.

Lets get right to it;

 Halls 

Halls is one of the original cough sweets that contain menthol. They were first created in the UK by the Halls brothers in the 1930s. They come in a variety of different flavours such as honey, lemon, mint and cherry. Helping a sore throat has never tasted so good!


Hammonds 

Hammonds creates the quintessential American candy and mouth-watering chocolate bars. Hammonds candy ranges from the traditional candy cane in different flavours to butterscotch pillows and their famous lollipops. Their scrumptious chocolate bars include fantastic flavours such as banana crunch and bourbon pecan pie. They even have the very untraditional chicken and waffle flavour chocolate bar!


Hanuta

These sweet snacks are one of Germany’s most popular choices. They are wafers with a delicious chocolate layer. The chocolate will taste familiar as it's the same company that makes Ferro Rocher, Kinder and the chocolate spread to end all chocolate spreads - Nutella. 


Happy Hippos  

Created by Kinder, Happy Hippos are loved by everyone and very much like Pringles, once you pop you can’t stop! Happy Hippos are a range of hippo shaped crispy wafer biscuits, filled with a scrumptious milky hazelnut cream filling. Happy Hippos can also be found in a cocoa version where instead of the milky hazelnut cream filling it is a milky cocoa cream filling. Both versions are equally delicious.


Haribo  

Haribo is the ultimate gummy treat and is a beloved favourite in the UK. These gummy delights originated in Germany and created their first gummy creation in 1922 in the form of their famous gummy bears. Haribo has a wide selection of different gummy sweets ranging from their tasty star mix, the sour tangfastics, delicious supermix, gummy bears, cola bottles, and fizzy strawberry laces; the list is endless of all the gummy treats made by Haribo. The only question is which is your favourite?

Haviland Thin Mints

Haviland thin mints are a refreshing chocolate-covered mint candy. The mint candy is a divine fondant and the original chocolate used was a tasty dark chocolate. Over time the Haviland thin mints produced a raspberry fondant version and an orange creme version. Smaller individually wrapped Haviland Wintergreen Patties are made with peppermint instead of the original mint which are just as tasty to eat. 


Hershey’s 

Hershey’s chocolate is a famous brand that makes the scrumptious American chocolate. Their chocolate bars range from cookies and cream to the birthday cake. While Hershey's Kisses are one of the biggest sellers in the USA. Hershey Kisses are small teardrop-shaped candies that also come in a large variety of flavours, including seasonal favourites such as cherry cordial, candy cane, lava cake, and their vampire kisses which contain strawberry creme.

Heath Bar

Heath bar is a unique candy bar consisting of toffee, almonds and milk chocolate; it is sweet and chewy once you get through the hard outer layer.  It is an American chocolate bar that was first on sale in the 1920s and was sold as America’s finest. You can also buy Heath bar minis which are ideal to share with friends.



Honeycomb Toffee

Honeycomb toffee is also known as cinder toffee and usually covered in milk chocolate. Tastes so good it can be found in bar form as a Crunchie in the UK and the Violet crumble in the UK. It is also a firm favourite in the classic pick n mix. 


Hot Lips 

These are classic lip-shaped chewy candies with a spicy cinnamon kick.


Hot Tomales

Hot Tamales are a soft, cinnamon flavoured candy. This sweet originates from Pennsylvania and was first created in the 1950s. Due to the intense flavour of the cinnamon, the Hot Tomales can deliver a strong kick, but anyone who loves cinnamon and the intensity it can bring will love the Hot Tamales. There have been variations on the Hot Tomales which include different levels of heat intensity. Hot Tamales Fire is hotter than the original. Hot Tomales 3 Alarm has three different candies in different colours to show how hot they are, Hot Tomales Tropical Heat which includes pineapple, lemon and mango flavours.


Hubba Bubba

Hubba Bubba is the tastiest of bubblegum made by Wrigley’s. The best for blowing bubbles, Hubba bubba is famous for its gum not being as sticky, so when the bubble bursts it is easier to peel off your face! Hubba bubba comes in a range of different flavours depending on the country but in the UK, the main flavours are strawberry, apple and original. It is usually found in packs with 5 chunks of Hubba Bubba, it is also available in tape form.


Humbugs

Humbugs are traditional hard-boiled sweets that are peppermint in flavour and have a striped pattern on them. Many think the name originates from Scrooge's famous saying in Dicken’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ however it is more likely to originate from the Northern English term ‘Humbug’ which means a toffee flavoured mint.
